(SOLVED) Lost my menu bar when using Dolphin file manager
« on: March 01, 2011, 05:04:40 AM »
I was using Dolphin trying to figure out the file path to a folder and unchecked the box "Show Menu Bar".

That didn't help me with the file path name so now I want to get Dolphin's appearance back to like it was.   How can I get the Menu Bar back in Dolphin ?    There is no place that I can find within Dolphin to check "Show Menu Bar".      I would be fine with getting back to the default settings if that is possible.

Update:  Thanks for the replies below.  Very helpful.

I used to think I knew a lot about computers until I started using Linux.  Now I feel my age...

After following coffeetimes advice and you have your Menu Bar back

Quote
trying to figure out the file path to a folder

If you right click on where it says Name (above your folders) in the Column headers you'll see one of the options is Path

Select that and it will show the path on the r/hand side of the window.

Cressida - a useful "addon" (service) I use in Dolphin is one called "copy path"

It will copy the whole path by r/clicking a file or folder - you can then paste it where needed (or it will allow the file to be "automatically" attached to an email)

To get the service go to

Dolphin > Settings > Configure Dolphin

Go the Services option and choose "Download New Services"

When that opens they'll be tons of "service addons"  - in the search box just enter "copy" (without quotes) and the list will shorten down - the one I use is named copy_path authored by someone named bollo

Install it and restart Dolphin and that right click option will now be available.

Note - there are lots of useful "addons" in the Service area which may be helpful to you.

Good luck
