<Sorted out>raid funnies
« on: March 01, 2011, 01:30:46 AM »
Hi to all,
I am running raid 1/5/6 on some boxes and I am currently trying to get it to work correctly on this box.
AMD 3 core 2GB 1066 ram Nvidia graphics ASUS motherboard.
The problem does not actually show itself.
All raid partition are available, and of the correct size.
Drives are---1...500G..ACHI 2
.................2...750G..ACHI 1
.................3...500G..ACHI 5
ACHI 4 is an e-sata port on the motherboard.
AHCI 0 is a spare slot to try other OS's or new PCLinuxOS isos
MD0,1,2,3,4,5.are mounted  but if I do cat/proc/mdstat md5 shows that it is being rebuilt.
PCC in the disk management section shows the all MD have 3 drives attached.
If I switch drive 1 and 3. the system still boots as it is booting ton the 750G drive.
But cat/proc/mdstat still shows sdc8 and in particular md5 is being rebuilt.
Unless UUIDs are switching the drives back!!!!
MD0 is /
md1 is /home
md2 is swap
md3 is /var
md4 is /user
md5 is /mnt/data
cat /proc/mdstat shows......
md5 : active raid5 sda8[0] sdc8[3] sdb8[1]
      888088960 blocks level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [3/2] [UU_]
      [==>..................]  recovery = 11.6% (51569248/444044480) finish=264.7min speed=24707K/sec
.. sdc8 that seems to be the problem but how can I be sure of which drive/partition is giving me a problem?
Your thoughts on this matter greatfully received.
