<Fixed>Raid!!
« on: February 28, 2011, 04:22:57 PM »
hi to all,
Can anyone explain in very simple terms why, using raid 5, most MDs are mounted with no problems and occasionally 1 partition will not mount at boot.  takes some 450mins to come good. This partition  is c8 of md5.
All other partitions are mounted, even c1-7.
Your thought on this subject greatfully received.

I'd recommend asking this in the Advanced Users section.

There's not much to go on, here...no error messages, no logs, no details of steps taken, etc...

If i were to venture a (very uneducated) guess (due to lack of information), I might suspect a drive is dying...RAID5 is meant to tolerate the failure of a single device (with degraded performance as a result), as well as allow the rebuilding of said device when replaced...

Thanks Guys,
I now have the machine working.
I let mdadm finish and after 450 mins the system came good.
No more delayed mounting of drives/partitions.
The system is now stable.
Many thanks for your input.
