Dual Monitors - SOLVED
« on: February 22, 2011, 08:49:06 AM »
Hi All,

Okay, so a couple years ago, I bought my wife an Acer Aspire one.  And just recently, because she is using it for work, I bought her a full size monitor.

So, here is some background:

When I set up the dual monitors, I can manually set the thing to work okay.  Sometimes I set it up to run the 2 monitors, but sometimes we close the notebook monitor and just run the big monitor.  So far, so good.

Now here is the issue.

When she switches back to the built-in screen only (1024x600), maximized windows stretch off the screen to the right and bottom, so she cannot access important parts of program windows.  KDE system settings show that the screen resolution is correct.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

What are the "Configure Video Card" settings in PCC (Configure Your Computer)?

I'll have to load PCLOS back onto my aspire one to make sure of this. If I remember right if you set it up to do dual monitors when you unplug the external monitor it'll default back to the internal one, at the correct size.

I'll try to get my aspire one up and running by this weekend.

That's my experience, also (Dell D520 w/ Intel 945 chipset), but it may vary from manufacturer and video chipset.  Also, in my case, I use KDE as regular user to switch monitor settings (number, resolution, placement, etc), but PCC runs as root and determines the initial video configuration.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.

I ended up solving the issue by adjusting font dpi and multiple monitor settings (right, left, up, down,,, all that stuff) in systemsettings.
