How can one configure PCLOS's desktop to the traditional X behavior where a window gets focus just by passing the mouse over it? Thank you.

If you are using KDE:

"Configure Your Desktop"->"Workspace Appearance and Behavior"->"Window Behavior"->"Focus" (tab)->"Policy: Focus Follows Mouse".

 ;D

Finding where to configure what you want to configure is getting more and more difficult. But at least most things are configurable in KDE.

Code: [Select]
Your graphical desktop environment (most likely KDE or GNOME), in an effort
to behave like Windows, probably has its focus policy set to “click to focus.”
This means for a window to get focus (become active) you need to click on it.
This is contrary to the traditional X behavior of “focus follows mouse” which
means that a window gets focus by just passing the mouse over it. The window
will not come to the foreground until you click on it but it will be able to receive
input. Setting the focus policy to “focus follows mouse” will make the copy and
paste technique even more useful. Give it a try. I think if you give it a chance
you will prefer it. You will find this setting in the configuration program for your
window manager.

But still I am not able to know the difference, setting to 'focus follows mouse', still I have to click the folder to open it, and then what does it mean (above)?

You still have to click to open a folder, to bring a window to the foreground, and to launch an app. You just don't have to click to enter text in a window. On the other hand the mouse pointer has to be in the window where you want to enter the  text.

The traditional X behaviour isn't a zero-click solution; it just means that you don't have to click quite as much as if you stick to the defaults.

Personally I would welcome a desktop where you don't have to use mouse clicks at all, and I've seen web pages where you could test what a zero-click desktop would feel like, but I doubt that you could get one installed at the present time.

oh i see, I got now, nice feature and up to my knowledge this feature is not in Windows (what I saw). I have set to "Focus Follows Mouse", it is a little bit more snappier.
