latest FM install crash - drak involved?
« on: February 23, 2011, 05:54:02 PM »
I have the latest FM livedvd, 2011.01, which works perfectly.
Eventually I decided to install it, over the previous version, by using existing partitions but formatting sda1, (the root).
All went well till trying to set up grub, when it crashed, and I "escaped", noticing some drak references as I did so but as expected no luck rebooting. (Failure immediately after first few lines, long message involving kernel, of which I don't have a copy.  I tried twice more, including a different livedvdvd with same result. (Both dvd's have correct checksum).
Then I tried again, but elected to choose text grub only. Hey Presto! It works.
Sorry for the lack of info on messages, but machine is:
AMD 7750 dual core @2.7G
4 Gb mem
GeForce 7050M-M mobo.

Since the machine is now working this is not really a problem, but I am puzzled why the graphical option causes a crash.
I might add that even VBox works, with my previous virtual XP install, after I told it where to look.
