how to choose mount points

when installing e17 it asks me to choose mount points....and there is a list of "things" to choose from

I dont know what they are....

I have already KDE and windows 7 installed and i would like to install e17 .
While on the livecd i have checked the instalation wizard to see if there are the same instalation steps as in kde.They were....

Based on this i decided to go for the actual instalation but at some point ...after the partition thing, it asks me in "chinese" and in "klingonian" and with a smile to choose the mount points and it gives me lists of things to choose from...

I got stuck here..What to choose...?
The kde i have installed it  within windows..

Please help.

If you wanted to try E17 before going through the process of installing it "separately" you could install task-enlightenment (Enlightenment DR 17 Meta Package) which will allow you to choose which desktop to use at the login screen - in your instance it would be either KDE or E17

task-enlightenment is in Synaptic.

thanx ...but i think we are talking about two different issues.

what you are saying it refers to another question i wanted to ask ...of whether at the login screen i will be able to choose from kde, e17 and windows 7...?

At the moment once arrived at login screen i am given the choice of kde and windows 7..

Will e17 be aded to this list?

And now back to mount points ....i got stuck at not knowing what point to choose from the list....

What does that even mean? Are you installing to a VM, or to partitions on the actual hard drive?

thanx ...but i think we are talking about two different issues.

task-enlightenment is a different method of having E17 on your system - you don't choose at the grub boot menu but at the desktop login screen.

task-enlightenment is like installing a normal app using Synaptic BUT gives you a new E17 desktop environment to use.

The Windows 7 choice is only mentioned during the initial boot sequence via the Grub menu

So is anybody even remotly understanding what i say or was it just me coming across this step where i have to choose the bloody mount points....

I'm hesitant to jump in because it sounds like you are installing e17 inside an existing KDE Virtual Machine.  I'd know nothing about that.

If that is NOT the case, and you are just trying to add e17 as another operating system alone with your Win 7, etc, you'd have to have some empty space on a hard drive to create a partition to "house" the additional OS.  If that is the case, each linux OS needs a "root" partition designated by "/", it also needs a linux swap partition, and most people use a separate "home" partition.  Each of these are designated a "MOUNT POINT".  If you already have a linux swap partition for your existing linux system, you will not need another one.  Also, everything can just go into your new OS's "root".  The install will create everything else you need within that root, just make the size of the partition large enough to fit everything.

What partitions did you create? If you created one to be the e17 / partition, then the mount point is /. If you wanted a separate /home partition, then the mountpoint is /home.. Did you create a swap partition? Swap takes a different type of mount, as it's virtual RAM, so mounts in memory. Those would be the only ones you need be concerned with during the installation. One can always add partitions and set mount points at any time, so why add difficulty to a simple process during installation?
