I'm hesitant to jump in because it sounds like you are installing e17 inside an existing KDE Virtual Machine. I'd know nothing about that.
If that is NOT the case, and you are just trying to add e17 as another operating system alone with your Win 7, etc, you'd have to have some empty space on a hard drive to create a partition to "house" the additional OS. If that is the case, each linux OS needs a "root" partition designated by "/", it also needs a linux swap partition, and most people use a separate "home" partition. Each of these are designated a "MOUNT POINT". If you already have a linux swap partition for your existing linux system, you will not need another one. Also, everything can just go into your new OS's "root". The install will create everything else you need within that root, just make the size of the partition large enough to fit everything.
