No, I successfully updated last week.  (ADD:  I usually update weekly).

I had already tried option 2 and the ibiblio server.

I also tried the pc - software center - update package sources list.

If there is any doubt.  It is still broken.

Ref searching for  "apt-sources-list".  There isn't one available.  Just an   "apt-sources-update"   that is installed.

KDE - 4.9.2

I'm getting this on mirrors.

"pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2010/base/pkglist.kde4: 404 Not Found "

It is followed up with...

"W: Release file did not contain checksum information for /pclinuxos/2010/base/release.kde4

If you did then you have changed your sources list since then.

Just reading this: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,108162.msg924314.html#msg924314

In the Synaptic Settings --> Repositories window, click on the currently used active mirror to fill the lower data entry fields. In the bottom Section(s): field, if there is currently a kde4 section, place the mouse cursor directly behind the 4, click, then press the keyboard Backspace key once, then click the OK button below.

Had to be done since  2012 August, 15th.

That package is obsolete and need to be removed from your install and guess it's not working

Thanks John.

That was probably it.

I ran a test and the apt-sources-update overwrote my sources list.  I have removed it now.

I might have ran it after my last update last week to see what mirror was fastest.  Then, as I had already updated, I didn't test again.  Mea Culpae.  Lesson learned.

marrandy,
the list you post here is not the one you should use. Please read and follow the steps of the original post, click here, there is a reason for posting this.
Now you update or reinstall apt-sources-list-1.0.4 or later, then press Reload, and then you are set.

OK - removed.

If you have  apt-sources-update it, remove it ASAP.  Its old and doesn't work anymore.

It overwrote my sources file, but once John gave me a hint I removed it and put my original sources.list (I had a backup) back in.  THEN you follow the directions in the thread.

All good now.

Thanks for the help and advice from John, just17 and Pinoc.

Thanks. The mirror has changed.
Now, what I did is I removed some programs thinking in re-install them just to verify the download rate.
But... after that, can't find them listed in Synaptic! I did a Reload. Nothing!... :(
So, where are these programs and how can I re-install them? ???

What programs? :-\ Or are you keeping that a secret?

Nope... ;D
- K3b and VLC (that are already installed in the KDE full ISO)
- jDownloader and Jitsi that I installed from repo
I just want to have some megabytes to test the download rate. 'cause the dld rate of all I installed was 60-70 Kb/s!!! That means I waited hours to install Opera, jDownolader, Jitsi, fonts...
Now, all I removed from my system can't install again; don't find them...

Hi Myakka1, just to make sure we're on the same page, could you please just verify you are referring to:

"Original Post" of course being; Page 1 of this thread:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,87378.0.html

Plus, do you know what version of KDE you are using ?

Click on the 'PC' icon, far left at bottom of your screen, which will open your Menu.

Go to, System, then select "Info Centre", which will take you to KInfoCenter.

Look to the right of the KInfoCenter page to see what version of KDE is running on your System.

Thankyou.

Just 'Do nothing further please', as a answer to your problem will be forthcoming soon.  :)

Well, my PC menu doesn't have a System submenu, and I don't see KInfoCenter under any of the submenus.  Perhaps this is because I have changed it to Classic Mode?  Perhaps this is because I am updating from the PCLinux CD I made 2 years ago?  Perhaps it is because the only programs I routinely add to the basic ones are: toggle pad toggle, abiword, and gnumeric?

BUT looking in Synaptic, the most common KDE version information I see is 4.6.4
I have also successfully updated that apt-sources-list program.

But I haven't tried updating my kernel from KDE4 since my last post.  Kinda frustrated here.

I am installing full monty on another hd today. I'm pulling the iso from the link on the pclinux page for the torrent.  Now I am confused on the settings for the repositories now for full monty. should i do a update or not? when you start to check the repos it show the first two with the check and i got a error off of these. This one posted by "pinoc"

this one does work but when i try to update it tells me

Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
when I do hit apply. So just what do i do since there is a slight hold up on all the repos and the update. I will await a answer, cause I do not think I need all these updates if I can figure out the error.

Hi David,

the FullMonty version you have (2011.09) is way out of date and can not be upgraded. Please
1) download the most recent version from here,
2) follow Option 2 in the original post to correct the mirror setup,
3) now you can upgrade your system

good luck,
