Hello pinoc. Since you are already in this thread, if I may, I would like to ask you a question off topic. I guess I could have sent you a private message but this topic may interest others.

To the point. I searched for a thread on this but did not find one.

The torrent for the Full Monty is not downloading for me. I just wanted to know if this was a known problem, or is the problem on my end.

Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Hi joechimp,
this thread is about the Synaptic mirror status. The info on FullMonty is summarized here. The torrent seems to be working fine (right now 4706 downloads from linuxtracker). If you can't get the torrent working you can also try a direct download from one of the fast mirrors mentioned in the original post, e.g., this one.
hope this helps, good luck!

Thank you for your help. I am sorry I went off topic. It is obviously on my end if the torrent is working for others. I will try again or do as you suggested with one of the mirrors.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer me.

added section xfce4 to all mirrors, so you can now use task-xfce in Synaptic to install Sproggy's XFCE4  ;)
You can now also update to the latest mirror-info by installing the package apt-sources-list from Synaptic. If you have a PASS account be sure to make a back-up copy of your PASS credentials first.

pinoc, I take it this is not 'a notice' to update to our latest sources list ?

EDIT:

Actually, seems it is.

Option 1: apt-sources-list
============================
Please read the info on apt-sources-list. Then, and after having pressed Reload in Synaptic, search for and install it. You will then have the latest Synaptic mirror information.

removed all 3 Swiss mirrors because they stop mirroring us due to disk space constraints. Original post wa sup dated and you should get the new list automatically via upgrading apt-sources-list.

Shame, the Swiss servers were fastest for me.

I'm sure there's others just as good, besides the Irish one ... ;)

Yeah, me, too. Guess I'll have to run the speed test on all my machines again.  :(

"Original Post" of course being; Page 1 of this thread:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,87378.0.html

Lots of information which should be read in that Original Post, just as a refresher.  ;)

Importantly:

Whenever I update apt-sources-list, I lose my local repo settings. Not a big deal, but thought I should report it. Thanks.

Heya Galen.

I don't care much for the whole list so I just pin the package so it doesn't get updated. Of course it's always good to have an updated list but we only use one (as an emergency), and in our case our local is important and many of us probably rsync to a removable drive.

Well, that's just me ... so I don't have issues in updating the apt-sources-list.

I don't really have a problem, either. I just update the list, then re-insert my local repo. :)

Well, that certainly is better than pinning the package. I should change to that habit. ;)

Easy enough to edit the list.

These days with "apt-sources-list" in the repos; I do nothing but update. Pinoc edits the list, done.

Galen, only situation that would need attention would be if your " local repo" had been removed from the sources.list, then obviously you'd have to choose another.

cheers,

Tony
