I guess I'd have to run Update Package Source List to get the speed rating and the nearest available repo in my region.

Really bad about the recent catastrophe. I'm just glad it didn't happen closer to my location.

Hate to chime in off topic, but I had to shed a tear, it looks pretty much like it did sixty six years ago, humanity come together, we learn so much the more sophisticated we become, but equally suffer with the knowledge.

Pretty flat landscape, don't wanna dwell on it too much.

So you dwell on a steep landscape, madame? :)

I too, greatly appreciate all the work ya'll have done. I would like to stress the importance of frequently checking for updates. Sometime last year I became a new user of PCLinuxOS and I never checked for updates until I came to this forum and read a post from Texstar regarding the importance of said checking. Needless to say, I had boo-ku updates that were needed. I had to download and copy the latest iso file. Once again, thanks to all who contribute to this forum and give so much of your time and energy.

Kind regards,

Removed Australian Internode mirror because they don't manage to sync the repo. Australian aarnet works reliably.

I advised Internode that their mirror of 'pclinuxos' was not updating, and they seem to have fixed their problem.

They are up to date and are syncing daily (for the last week or so.)

Pinoc,

The version I'm getting from ibiblio and dropbox appear to be the 03/01/2011 version.

Terry

the download from my dropbox (option 2) should be the updated list from today, the ibiblio version may be updated later if Tex has some spare time to do so.

I was updating today, got error message:
Quote
Could not download all repository indexes

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.

I uncheck, http://ftp.vim.org/ibiblio/distributions/pclinuxos/megagames/apt/
and no further error report. I don't have games, well one little one,  ;) and had it checked out of habit more than anything else.
Not sure what this means ?
Any clues ?
