Have you tried Synaptic?

Please advise what you have tried so we don't duplicate what you've already done.

Hello friend
  I use synaptic

When trying to install a client msn (ams, emesene,Pidgin  ...)

tells me this error:

SOME OF THE PACKAGES HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE SERVER

Do you really want continues to ignore these packets?
I can do?

Let me guess .... You tried to install something like Yahoo mesenger or WindowsLive messenger?

Ah .. these are "Win only" program (exe installer). Wont work!

But .. you can use BOTH in Kopete (and more if you like to) at the same time.
Kopete comes closest I think for at least you will have your webcam, something popular (?) Pidgin still mis.
For WLM you can also use aMSN
In fact there are more clients Like Gyachi etc... But, well believe me, Kopete is easy and works (at the moment that is, LOL).

Hi pclxd3os

Make sure you have only the repo shown in the following link.

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,86168.msg718419.html#msg718419

If that one doesn't work try the heanet.ie repo

After you've done that make sure you do a Reload

Then if you want an MSN type app search for - and install - amsn
