I just found, in February is the New Year in China and they know how to celebrate that  ;D   ;D   ;D

Do we have a friend in China?  it has almost two months to write something   :D   :D   :D   :D   :D

AND in March is  St. Patrick’s Day  lots of Irish friends  :)

Chinese New Year sounds like it would be interesting. We've ran multiple St. Patrick's Day covers (all three March issues during my tenure).

Hello,

May I suggest an update to this article by Robert Stahl (Hairyplotter)?

The script that I have been using to keep a local repository mirror up-to-date is a modified version of the above, without the ftp server setup. :-[

The ideas for most (if not all) of the modifications came from topics/posts on the forum (noted in the script).

I know more work is needed before this can be submitted to the magazine staff (introduction, etc.), but since this is not truly an original article (just an update), is this idea worth pursuing ???

P.S. - the link to the submission guidelines in the ~ PCLOS Magazine Submissions ~ thread might need to be updated again.  :)

-Darryl

Darryl,

Might I suggest that you write up the update to this article, with your updates and modifications?

As for the ~ PCLOS Magazine Submissions ~, the last link in that thread contains the current version. I also went back through the thread and updated the other links to point to the same file.

If you have any questions, please send me a PM.

I did not find anything on bluetooth in the article index, I may be wrong.

How about an article on setting up bluetooth and the package required with KDE.

Sounds like a good idea to me, but someone else will have to do this one. Out of about 12 computers, not a single one is bluetooth capable. Also, if we're going to do an article on bluetooth, it will have to cover ALL desktops, not just KDE.

I suppose a listing of the BT installed packages for each DE would be in order.

On KDE I have the following installed

bluedevil
bluez
bluez-alsa
bluez-firmware
bluez-pin
libbluedevil1
libbluez3
libbtcl6
libsbc
obexd
obex-data-server
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth

I mostly use BT for audio to headset & earphone, hence the alsa & PA entries I guess.

MLUs rule the roost!

Linux XPS 3.4.38-pclos1.bfs  64 bit
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz
4 GB RAM
MCP51 High Def Audio
GeForce GTX 550 Ti
PHILIPS  ‎DVD+-RW DVD8701
‎Logitech ‎BT Mini-Receiver

The truth about this thread.

The magazine staff doesn't really need "Ideas".

What the magazine staff needs is articles.

Articles that inspire you to write something down and send it in.

Personally, I don't think it matters what the article is about, hell, he even printed our band's article based on a few questions.

It's not ideas that Paul is looking for, it is something more than that.

It is ideas, typed out in a format that can be used as an article that Paul is looking for.

Paul and his staff are quite capable of turning your article into a work of art, but to simply "suggest" an idea means that he and his staff must research, make sense of and then write an article from scratch.

If you know anything about anything and can type,, send these guys something.

They will give you credit for the work, and they will make you look like a true writer. ;)

Thank you, Rudge. You certainly hit the nail on the head. We appreciate "ideas" (we can't think of everything), but we REALLY APPRECIATE articles.

As Rudge has so eloquently stated ... we'll take what you send us and apply a layer of polish (if necessary ... there are some natural born writers among our midst, even if they don't realize it themselves).

Thank you so much, Rudge!

There are so many things I read about that would make good articles... Unfortunately, parnote and I can't write them all (speaking for myself, I don't know enough about some subjects to write a good article!)

Articles would be greatly appreciated!!
