Hi Guys,
Just checking in after install of FM today, used pclinuxos since early 2009.
Install on toshiba equium laptop dual boot with windows xp.
No issues other than the synaptics touchpad conf file needed tweaking with method 2 from textstars webpage , a known issue.
The touchpad would not work as it should first run.
I used a slightly differing method to change the file.
I logged in as root, then I edited the file using the konsole and navigating to root , etc,X11,xorg.conf.d
Then i used the nano command to edit the file 50-synaptics.conf to the text in solution 2.
I saved the file using control  and x keys (exit command) and everything works fine.

Just finished updating from synaptic package manager..

Good news as always with pclinuxos..nothing falls over, superbly stable.

This tool provides easy access to a set of potentially interesting websites for PCLinuxOS and general Linux documentation, like tutorials, man-pages, introductions, books, and information for Linux-newbies such as comparison charts for Linux-Windows application equivalents. This is what it looks like:



If you are interested you can already install it now following these steps as regular user:
- download the rpm and save it in your Home-directory
- ensure Synaptic is NOT running, then open a terminal and copy/paste the following command:

/usr/bin/su -c "rpm -Uvh fm_docuportal*.rpm" and provide your root-password to get it installed
- you can then start this script from the terminal or from PCMenu -> Documentation -> FullMonty Documentation Portal or PCMenu -> Internet -> FullMonty Documentation Portal

Is there a menu editor for FM or a way to edit the menu entries? I've tried using kdemenuedit but nothing I do there shows up after I save my work!?

in a given user-account you can use kmenuedit, or right-click the Start menu button and select Edit Applications..., and then amend the menu entries to your liking; when done click Save in kmenuedit. This changes are then applied only to the user-account in which you committed these changes.

Cannot thank you enough for FM. Had purchased a DVD but it was an older version than I got when I downloaded it from your link and it is the one distro that makes the most sense to me with everything organized the way I would do it if I could. I loved OpenBox but just enjoyed the style of FM most. It is my permanent OS now. Just need to add a few apps. To my surprise Scribus is already there. Now need Zim(organizer/wiki), FocusWriter(txt ed/WP), Artha(thesaurus), and After the Deadline (in-browser proofing) and maybe Kupfer(launcher plus), and later, Writer's Cafe. Most of these were suggestions from the forum when I asked if "Any Writers Out There?" and as always got the best responses. Thanks again Archie and the rest. I just need to know, to download FocusWriter from its author's site gottcode.org , whether to download as sourcecode or ubuntu, mandriva, .... there's no choice for KDE.  Which to choose?    Lastly, will future update include the touchpad fix? Mine never became fully functional and decided to leave alone since I didn't want to risk messing up anything else. I'll gladly live without the slide feature with everything else as is. I am verrry happy with FM!!!

Thanks, that *does* help!  I only wish that all the menu was sorted out the way the games menu entry is!  I guess I'm gonna have to do that the *hard* way, menu entry by menu entry!(?) It's gonna be a pain in the arse, I can tell right now...

I absolutely LOVE PCLOS FM!!! I already liked PCLOS above all the other distros ... I always kept coming back to it as it is (and always has been) THE ~best~ distro ever, and Full Monty just made it even *BETTER*, IMHO!!!!

Link is dead(?)...I tried to access it 1st by right-clicking into a new tab, then by left-clicking to a new tab and both times I got:

Hi Qball, ok, updated the link to download fm_docuportal. This is the same as the new PCLinuxOS docuportal (now available in Synaptic and on the new 2012 .02 KDE isos) plus a link to the FM-hompage.

Hi.  i am attempting to install the Full Monty on a MacBook (had to wipe the drive) to try it out and it hangs at the very end of the progress bar on the install.   can't seem to get detail messages during the install.  can someone help? Thanks!

The last stage of the install is the building of an initial ramdisk (initrd) image.  On some hardware this can take a long time.  So you may think it has hung but it hasn't.  I would suggest you leave it alone and see if it finishes (the longest I have heard of is 45 minutes!)

I tried the LXDE 2012 version and also CentOS 6.2.  Both hang.  So it's the machine.  Anyone tried a MacBook (Intel CPU)

So I have been using FM for a few days now & I LOVE it.....MOSTLY!!! You see, I have had no errors, hardware support is great, & its easy to use in most ways.
HOWEVER....I have had just 1 problem thus far...INSTALLING/UPDATING software! A large amount of the software available via Synaptic & that which is preinstalled is quite outdated. Example: GIMP is now in 2.8, yet only 2.6 is available in the repos. I know, I could just build from source right??? WRONG! I DONT KNOW HOW!
It would be really nice if a Software center or at least an easy way to truly get the latest packages was included in the next version!
In many cases, I cannot survive without the very latest versions of some programs. This means instead of switching from my current Linux distro, I have to either leave FM behind me OR dual boot. I dont want to do either, but what choice do I have if I cant eaily update my software???
