I see from Tex's Twitter that he has "added sihp1018.dl to cups-drivers-foo2zjs package so HP lasterjet 1018 (1020) works out of the box".  Thanks for that Tex.

So install FM liveCD and update BEFORE installing printers.

Another minor problem solved:
Kaffeine will not play encrypted dvds.  This can be fixed by installing the package "libdvdcss".

Hey Russel,
sometimes it is also of advantage to read the announcement, important note and remarks, i.e., remark # 5 here or Note b) here  ;)

You are downloading 1.3 gigs of updates but want a new DVD that requires a 4 gig download? I'm sure Pinoc is working on an updated Monty.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Texstar

PLEASE  :-[ :-[ :-[ excuse the IMPATIENCE as we are only allowed 330k/b per sec downloads and this download is in the region of 1 hour 10 minutes

Was just hoping like KDE 2011.6 there may have been a Full Monty 2011.6 too.

And Pinoc and Texstar am not trying to impose my will on this as if more installs of Full Monty are needed here in the Cool South Eastern B.C. Canada then each time this IMPATIENT Scorpio has few tools to deal with this.

So Pinoc --->>> PLEASE accept my SINCEREST apologies for any negative inferences were laid

Cheers for Years

Hi Colin,

the next FullMonty should be out in ~2-3 weeks, waiting to include the big updates of the upcoming LibreOffice3.4.1 and KDE4.6.5.
If you installed KDE2011.06 and added fullmonty-light then just create a new user to get the FullMonty layout, more info here.

KDE 2011.06 download can be found for example here, use that and install fullmonty-light or just wait for FullMonty2011.07 to be announced here

pinoc Thanks

:-[ have KDE 2011.6 on the AMD  dual core - got fullmonty-light from repositories - but can not :-[ find how to  log into it - even from the prompts in the tools etc!!!--->>>
The following 3 FullMonty tools are included and available from PCmenu -> More Applications -> Configuration:
1) fm_info: provide basic information about the FullMonty base installation and your system.
2) fm_setwidgets: select one of 12 pre-configured plasma config-files to either match your screen-resolution or to restore a pre-defined FullMonty-desktop layout. This tools can also be used to a) unlock and then personalize your current desktop layout or to adapt it to a non pre-configured screen-resolution, and b) to set the startup desktop.
3) fm_switcher: switch between the FullMonty and the default PCLinuxOS KDE desktop layout which is then applied to any new user on the system.--->>>

Guess will have to PLAY a little longer eh??? ::)--->>>OOPS!!! just read this--->>>

After installing fullmonty-light via Synaptic the FM desktop layout will be applied to any new user added to the system. This means existing system users will have the same desktop as before and you have to add a new user to activate the FM-desktop.

One of my failings - the NEED to REALLY READ :-[ :-[ :-[

And have Full Monty 2011.04 - updated on the Intel Quad.

Thank you so much

Cheers for Years

pinoc, I've a good one for you.

I have a Dell XPS-8100 that I currently triple boot Win 7, PCLOS 2011.6 and another Linux distro on.  I need to use Windows for my job, so I install Linux distros on them to have a play with them.

The machine I am sending this from is an older Dell XPS-410, which dual boots PCLOS 2011.6 and another Linux distro.

I downloaded FM onto the 8100, burned the DVD and rebooted the machine to give it a test drive.  I saw a screen with the PCLOS logo and the bull on it and then was dumped into a black screen with a log in prompt.  I entered guest for the user and password and then got a terminal prompt.  I entered startx and ended up with the same error as pcura mentioned in this post.  I noticed you have mentioned options on the GRUB screen, but I suddenly realized, I hadn't seen a GRUB screen.

I popped the disc out of the 8100 and put in this 410, rebooted and voila, there was a GRUB menu.  And of course, I manged to boot into FM with zero problems on this machine.

Any ideas on how to get the 8100 to display a GRUB menu?  I've been in the FM live environment long enough to submit this post and one other and I am intrigued.  I don't know I am intrigued enough to install it on this machine yet, as I'm just getting comfortable with 2011.6 on this one.  But I would like to install it on the other machine and play with it a bit more.

Be forewarned, although I've been using various Linux distros for a few years, I can still be a little thick.  I had already registered when I saw oldnewguy's posts, else I would have grabbed newoldguy for a username.   ;D  So I may be missing something quite obvious to the rest of the world, but I sure would like to know what it is, because I sure do want to try FM.  I appreciate any suggestions or ideas you might have.

I find your activity and willingness to help out in this thread to be impressive.  People always like to gripe about the bad in this world, but I always like to take time to point out the good.

i7-860 processor

ATI Radeon 5450

I got curious and tried running the DVD from the second optical drive.  Same result.  I see the background for the GRUB splash screen, but no GRUB menu ever appears.  I heard the drive stop, so I used the cursor keys to drop down to the VESA option, but that didn't do anything for me.  I got to thinking about it and dropped the PCLOS 2011.6 LiveCD into the machine.  And it takes me all the way to the Live environment, but doesn't show me a boot menu, either.  So I tried a LiveCD for another distro I have installed on the machine and it did the same thing.  No GRUB menu, but it just takes me all the way to the Live environment.

I hope this additional information will give you some ideas.  Apologies for not putting all this in the above post.

If you need additional information, I will be happy to get it for you.  Thanks for taking the time to look this over.

Hi Mike,

no idea why you do not even get the Grub-menu, maybe some BIOS-setting needs to be changed? Or a hardware issue, not enough RAM ???
If you get it working somehow then I suggest to just use it and do not update the system. There is a toolchain, KDE, and a X.org update and tons of packages. The next FM should be out beginning of August, and having all these updates working, just waiting to add KDE4.7 and LibreOffice 3.4.2 to come out end of this month.

pinoc,

I think I will just bide my time until the next release and see what happens there.  I'm happy with the 2011.6 install on that machine, so I'll just use it for the time being.  Thanks for looking this over!
