Nvidia Ion Graphics
« on: January 28, 2011, 09:10:14 AM »
Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting an Asus eee pc 1015pn, it is the same as the 1015pem but with nvidia ion graphics. I was wondering if pclinuxos supports the ion2(gt218) graphics. Also, whether the nvclock utility can be used with it.

that is a good question, nobody has mentioned ion graphics here

by opening the nvidia website the unified 260 driver covers it, i don't know if we have it on repos

It doesn't seem to be in the repos. The driver is extremely new. According to the download page on the Nvidia website, it released on 21st Jan. I haven't made my decision as of yet but I'll post how well it goes if I do get my hands on the netbook which won't be for another 2-3 weeks or so.

Thanks for starting this thread, Im thinking about building a HTPC using an ion2 ITX motherboard.  Think I'll wait a little while and keep an eye on that driver.

So should a package request be made?

So should a package request be made?

It is already in testing on the PASS server.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

I know this thread is old... but thought I would add. I use pclos on a variety of Acer ION based systems. One has the ION2 chip in it. I'm getting video playback corruption; like a tear, but it "zig zags" on the top of the video instead of being just a single horizontal line across the screen. Happens in xine, mplayer and vlc. h264 video. Same os, same video, same players, it's just fine on an older ION(1) system. So I think there is either something not right with the nvidia drivers or the libavcodec (perhaps?) libraries.

Setting modes, using a desktop etc., are just fine however.
