Just a preference. The "Digital Clock" setting on the panel - I set the clock format to %r   That gives the time as: 09:05:23 AM

Good tip! I've been using %i:%M %p to get the same result.

Hello,

Within one or two days, I suppose not more a new Edu to test will be ready. I found a terrible flaw in the setup of the system : do you remember I changed the configuration of the fixed devices in /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf file ? (grumbleble !!! high cases ! :( )

This forces users who want to access to partitions such as windows partitions or other distros if there are any to provide the root password. I realized today that just changing the configuration in the preferences of pcmanfm was just making that config suddenly ineffective ! after logout/login, or reboot : all the partitions were mounted and available for any purpose...

I have passed time on docs, chans, docs, google, did different little tests in the files, and suddenly... in the Archlinux wiki : miracle, I found a solution !

As we still use hal (and will be for some time seeing the number of apps that depend on it in our systems... unless we switch fast from now to next year... ), well now we do use hal, so this config is valid.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL
Device specific policies

Disable Automount on login

You may want to disable automounting of ntfs(/or other filesystem) partitions on login.
File: /etc/hal/fdi/policy/20-disable-automount.fdi

Code: [Select]
<device>
  <match key="storage.hotpluggable" bool="false">
    <match key="storage.removable" bool="false">
      <merge key="storage.automount_enabled_hint" type="bool">false</merge>
    </match>
  </match>
</device>

as soon as I noticed this part I tried it. The result seems good ! I ticked all the mount volumes section in the PCManFM preferences and after logout, login, reboot : the volumes are not default mounted anymore, and when clicking one one of the icons representing a partition, in the left sidebar of the file manager, I am prompted for the root password.

It seems that one of the goals around the security of the datas in hard drives is reached ! ':)

Ok ! Here I updated 4 versions (2 English 2 French, OB Full and Edu). I also found packages that don't belong to repositories anymore and are as of 2010 and earlier, so I gained a little space. I suppose I will also do the same for the 2 Bonsai (en - fr) and wait for the last feedbacks before shooting them all. :)

Wow, you have been busy!! :)  EDU running fine at this point, with one minor item.  In OpenBox Menu, Documentation is empty.  I've also installed OOo4kids.

Jeff, I updated them, but didn't re-remaster... just prepare.

What can I do about the Doc menu missing ? Do you have a suggestion ? (Else than adding packages because I don't think more would fit with a 700 MB size limit).

I've also installed OOo4kids.

Tried OOo4kids, it has a glitch, I think it lost the  menus or something like that
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Hi Crow,

How can it loose the menus ? I don't understand.

What about the Education version itself ? How do you find it ?

Dear Crow, excuse me but OOo4Kids is not installed in PCLinuxOS Education. I have installed only OOo4Kids Manager. I don't want to deal with this program, as there is not yet a comprehensible way of setting up the menus (at least 3 ways... and not easy to find) and add to this, the fonts look ugly, compared to theses of Libreoffice, or Abiword.

Several testers found it a good idea to be able to get it : thanks to pinoc, this goal is reached. I can't help on the OOo4Kids issues. (Else than pointing to the website of the project).

I am registered at the mailing list of the developers, and will therefore know when some progresses are made. I don't know about menus disappearance, but for the fonts look and the menus setup, I have sent posts and received answers. Only the time will allow improvements, I guess.

Hi Mélodie,

Is the gnome help file, "yelp", really needed?  I removed such and the documentation menus where deleted.

OK, I know now, set up the menus is the easy part, but tools bars doesn't appear next time you open the program.

Here are some images, if somebody want to see them

Maybe is something to report
