Let's have MTPaint with his buddy MTPaint Screenshot  !! :)

Sounds like a winner! oneko looks fun. I would be sure you've got everything else that you need, then see if it fits.

Hi, onoko is fun but there is no menu to start it, and we don't want it there all the time... also when it quits, the cursor has the shape of an X that stays on the screen until X is restarted. If someone wants to test it further and bring back his findings... I have tested only by starting it in console.

Will someone explain me how to use Parcellite, please ?

Parcellite is just a clipboard history, just like kde has had from the beginning. So, if you cut and paste a paragraph, then cut and paste a single word, you can still paste the previous paragraph again without having to highlight it again. Just click on the clipboard icon in the system tray, select the item you want to paste, then point and paste. (It will only show text that has been saved to the clipboard).

As for Parcellite, I use a clipboard daily on all my machines, some people don't use it at all.  I just happen to use Parcellite on my OpenBox installs, as it works fine as a clipboard.

I run Openbox without any panels, bars or trays.  Does Parcellite need something like this as I can't seem to get it to start from terminal.  As an aside, I do like the Mac system of multiple clipboards where if you were copying for example, you would hit Cmd/c/pick a number between 1 and 10.  Then to paste, hit Cmd/v/number.  I wonder if there is something in the Linux world that is similar?

Hi,
Gseaman, thanks !

The terminal commands. Example:
Quote
$ history | grep cp
  68  cp /home/melodie/Desktop/liste.vcf .
   71  cp liste.csv /home/melodie/Desktop/
  309  history | grep cp

I want to call back the command number 71 : I type "!71" hit enter, and that's it.

It's not copy/paste, but this is what comes closer in my mind to "get a number to redo -something-"

That is a neat trick! Thanks, I had forgotten about the history command and I've never seen it combined with grep. I am going to use that! Of course, that is not related to copying and pasting in documents and applications, which is what the clipboard is most often used for (like in this forum).

Hi gseaman, happy to read you appreciate. I use it quite often myself.

I come to say I must think about using the translations we have done at translation section starting from the next version of Edu, for quite a bunch of desktop files now, at theses pages:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,65.0.html

well not all from this page are used, but a few, and the page after as well:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,65.20.html

PS: I should update Virtualbox system for the next RC, install getvirtualbox...

PS2 : I tried mintmenu in Virtualbox (a RC5 that I didn't shoot out yet so I experiment in it) and it doesn't work at all. Both mintmenu and alacarte crash with horrible messages about some .py files when I try to run them from console.

PS3 : In the main menu there is now, because of Yelp that I installed, a menu "Document" that leads to "Help" and this Help is horrible (imo) to browse into, especially in French where part is in French and all the content that could be useful is in English.

Would you all testers tell me how useful you can find this Help from _Documentation menu_ point of view, useful ? I'd be fast to get rid of it and all it's big docbook packages... :|

Thanks !

Hi Mélodie,

In looking at this help file, I don't find it very useful.

Alright !

Who would be willing to test the next one almost in all French ? :D

Else, I got /dev/null corrrupted twice today. Once in vbox once in real machine. I don't think I started geany as root in the real machine though ? ???

The fix:
http://forum.trustonme.net/open/post-cat-1-topic-8311.html

Code: [Select]
sli-linux:/home/sli # cd /dev/
sli-linux:/dev # rm null
sli-linux:/dev # mknod null c 2 2
sli-linux:/dev # chmod 666 null

(and reboot).

/Edit : Adding Xarchiver... and ptpcam

Hi Melodie

It's a shame this isn't free (it can be downloaded and used but it looks like it's limited to the number of pages that can be coloured in without buying it)

Color By Numbers

Color It By Numbers is a fascinating series of coloring books that will leave no child indifferent. They are special in that numbers identify colors to be used in filling picture areas. This is an exciting process that helps develop the imagination. While painting the pictures, your child will quickly learn new numbers and colors while also gaining computer skills. This turns coloring into a useful pastime.

As well as being in English, the program has been translated into German,
Spanish, French and Russian." Available for Linux, Windows, and Mac.

Hi menotu, you guess we are interested by Free Gpl or such programs, such as the one I pointed to above, for a new package.
If you find others that are really important to get ?

gTrans is interesting for several things... orthophony as well as fun and thinking.  :)

Hi,

A RC7 in French is available here, for who want to try... (691 Mo) I won't advertise it on the first page of this thread, I just say it here. I'll do the RC7 in English as soon as possible (I have to do a fresh install from the RC6, as I have changed files here and there in the French version to fit better the language... and don't really re-switch from French to English on the installed one).
