Unlock widgets/right click the box/System Tray Settings tab to "Entries" make sure KMix is there.

I think.  :P  ??? ???

EDIT: the "Visibility" should be "Auto"

i've been for a look in there and kmix is nowhere to be found.  i also tried putting kmix on the panel and then looking to see if i could transfer it, but no dice.  i didn't find anything useful in applets, widgets or whatever.  i'm stumped again.  kde4 has lost some useful functionallity i had become accustomed to while not yet learning its new features and options.  *grump*  it's annoying sometimes being so lazy.

Remove that system tray and add it back. See if there are defaults?

easier than that. looked at kmix options and found that i'd hidden it in the system tray.  all i had to do was unhide it.  i found that under file.

now the problem is that it doesn't work.  i'll start a new thread for that.

thanks for helping.
