Hi everyone, IN Winnipeg, MN, CA. Until the Feb 3rd.
I need a little help with a new virtualbox installation.
Installed both KDE and XFCE 2010 editions on this HP Pavilion Entrainment PC Laptop model number tx2617ca.
FYI - both editions installed cleanly on it. Only problem is the video handling for the unit, which is a common problem and still under development by others to solve, so I installed under VERSA mode. Over all the system is stable, just no 3-d effects or games for this unit they are solved.
Then comes the problem.
When trying to load/install getvirtualbox through synaptic package manager.
I get the following error message
getvirtualbox:
Depends: libpython2.5-devel
So I try to download libpython2.5-devel through the synaptic package manager.
then it gives the following error message.
Could not mark all packages for installation or upgrade.
libpython2.5-devel:
Depends: python (= 2.5.2)
How do I get the correct package version of python in synaptic manager?
Which one needs to be installed so getvirtualbox will install?
The standard (KDE/XFCE) installations put in on its own Shared libraries for Python of 2.6.6.
I hesitant to remove version 2.6.6 because of the list of dependencies that relay on it,
without knowing the result or that 2.5.5 will run.
Has anyone come across this problem before?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
tom
