YouTube Downloader
YouTube Downloader is a free powerful utility that will help you to download your
favorite videos from youtube.

So I rebooted to my other distro, and installed one I know and that is not in our packages, and it worked immediatly. This is why I'm going right now to packages suggest. :)

Thanks for testing and feedback about theses 2 above. Maybe it's the one video I tried to get that it didn't like ? (?)

Try this Melodie

It was on a recent thread on the same subject but I forget the name of the poster so can't give credit where it is due.  It is so simple and it works.

An easy way to save youtube videos- is to go to youtube select the video-
let it load ( leaving the web page open )
go to your Root tmp folder - locate the flash video file - should look something like this ( FlashXXiK8stn )

Right click > Rename - then add .flv to the end of the file name and click Rename
Then right click again and move it to where ever you desire to save the file.

that is what i mentioned

you don't need to put the.flv extension, vlc will recognize it perfectly, other players too

still is more simple to use jdownloader, it offers all available options form youtube, including from lowest form highest resolution of the video available

I would like to ' add ' my own experience to the following

Quote

If you are downloading 2 or more files in a row, don't forget that the first one will be over-written if you don't change them before downloading the second one

Also, if you are looking at your /tmp in Konqueror, then the second one will mostly not be visible till you do one of the following, ( or both sometimes )"
--you are looking at /tmp
--you see nothing coming down in /tmp
--click any other directory above or below
--click again your /tmp and the download will be visible

Sometimes it happened to me that had to leave konqueror and open it again in /tmp

Just last week I have been doing that a lot

Just open Dolphin, "Split" your screen and open one half to where you want the file to reside and other half open to /tmp. Wait for the "Flashwhatever" to finish downloading and drag it to the other half of Dolphin. Then you can rename it whatever you want and place a file extension of whatever your default player plays. It should work.  ;)

I use the Download Helper add on for Firefox and it works great. Not only can you download but lets you download and convert it into different video formats or MP3 for adding it to you Ipod or whatever. Simply go to your Firefox preferences and look for the manage add ons and then type in Download Helper in the search field and install it. Works like a charm

Just get flashgot, one of the best Firefox tools ever you can download pictures, audio, video, and even files/links. If you need to download several files form a website just highlight them all left click flashgot and you get them all. Even gets you around some site blocks/wait timers.

http://flashgot.net/ or just go to Firefox addons and search flashgot.

Hi,

I have suggested Clipgrab at packages suggest section and Texstar has packaged it. Easy, provides several options for the format and quality of the video to be downloaded, so that's what I use.
