Could I ask for a minute of your time please.
The F2100 is connected to a Compaq Desktop, and two laptops and a netbook talk to it wirelessly for print jobs via the Desktop. The printer has been installed using Printerdrake (PCC>Configure>Hardware>Configure Printers and Scanners) on all machines, locally on the Desk, remotely on the others. Whatever the default setup was, it worked but seemingly nothing I did stopped it eating colour cartridges at a prodigious rate as it made black words the hard way. The black cartridge (the cheap one) has been consequently immortal.
Tonight out of curiosity and frustration I looked in
http://localhost:631 and modified the printer with the F2100 driver. This permitted a new choice of draft greyscale to be made which actually works!! locally. However preliminary trials show colour printing still taking place in calls from the wireless machinery.
Question: Will I need to similarly modify all the computers to get them to print draft from the network, and if so is there a quicker way to select colour printing as required without wading through the localhost:631 menu? Are there any pitfalls in making changes in remote machines to the network printer's setup?
Thank you for listening.
