K3b ISO burn faliure
« on: January 09, 2011, 09:51:30 PM »
i wanted to burn the latest PCLinuxOS ISO.  I was in LXDE and decided to do it there. No go. The disc just spinned and spinned, but never burned.

I was able to do it in K3b in KDE.

Grafburn is the default tool in LXDE. I never had a problem with it as long as I use a DVD.

Grafburn is a no go. I used a DVD, too. I made three coasters.

LXDE appears to run well with no problems. I just can't burn an ISO to disc.

I uninstalled Grafburn.

Thanks, guys. As I mentioned earlier, Brasero appears tohave dpoen the job. I popped the disc into an office WinXP system this afternoon and PCLinuxOS Live CD came right up.  it booted and ran.  it found the internet, etc.  I launched Firefox and surfed around a couple of clicks.:)

So Brasero worked fine!:)

I'm still not sure why K3b failed in LXDE.  K3b worked fine in KDE.  there was an issue of k3b not being able to burn an audio CD.  Maybe I should try Brasero for this.  Then again, who's using audio CDs anymore anyhow??

LXDE is not KDE, when you install k3b, it will install kde, and that isn't what we want  ;D

I'm a little late to the party, but I've been using K3b for burning isos since PCLOS v.93.  I've been running LXDE for over a year & using K3b successfully.  But starting around last Oct or Nov, K3b crashes when trying to burn images.  No big deal, I just switched to xfburn for my disc burning jobs.  Anyway, thought I'd throw this in as I saw the topic here in the forums.
