saving streaming vid?
« on: January 09, 2011, 12:25:59 AM »
Hay all I having trundle finding an app. I want to save streaming vids I find on web sites so I can take use an excerpt from it in paradies and so on.

The youtube-dl app lets you do this with youtube vid but not finding one for other sites? I know in Windows there are a number of apps that will just let you right click on the vid and save it right from the web site that is streaming it.

Is there one for PClin? if so what is it called  ?

Hope some one knows thanks in advance

Firefox Addon:  DownloadHelper   works for some.  There are plenty of solutions - what URL did you have in mind?

Steve

the Fire fox plug ins work ok for ones like

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/(somerandomevidid)

but for ones like

http://www.veoh.com/veohplayer.swf?permalinkId=(somerandomevidid)&id=anonymous&player=videodetailsembedded&videoAutoPlay=0

Are there ones that will work for players that dont actualy link to the location of the file per say not un like youtube. That was the whole point of youtube-dl in that it knows how to traslate the "
http://www.veoh.com/veohplayer.swf?permalinkId=(somerandomevidid)" in to the location of the file. Of course if there is a way for me to manualy fix the URL I am all game to. I know the file is here some where as the sytem playes it just not sure where
