broken tar(s) 1.24-1.25

These versions are not compatible with amanda, so I am carefully ignoring the offer to upgrade from 1.23.  Keeping an eye on the bug-tar list, as I am, and if and when there is a 1.26 that fixes this, I'd appreciate its being offered in your repos within a week or so of its release.  For some reason, the gnu folks do not seem concerned that they have broken a major player in the backup software field, amanda, and have allowed it to remain so for around 2 months now.

Moved as does not appear to be a broken package , but rather not working with a particular application, which does not qualify it to be a broken package

I would suggest that when the time comes and a new version is relesae that you request an update via package requests using the correct format ( ie read the suggestion rules)
