I installed the Konq-plugins. I opened Konq.  Two things happened.  Over to the Right an arrow appeared. When I clicked on it, it only made the white space get larger.
I still cannot type into the white space......but when I tried to type a small window opened down the page.

Log out, then back in. If that doesn't work, try a reboot. On my Konqueror browser I have this;

Yes, I can configure it (even if the configuration options aren't very many). But I just can't specify whether it should be visible or not without editing the rc file -- at least not from the "Toolbars Shown" menu.

Remove the entry under the Search Toolbar and it will disappear .......  return it an it will be visible.

But I don't have that option:

Configure Toolbars .......  Select the Search Toolbar ........  move "Search bar"  back to left side.

Thanks. How could I miss something so obvious? (But I still think you should be able to tick and untick it under "Toolbars Shown" ...)

If you rename ~/.kde4/share/config/konquerorrc you'll lose your personal Konqueror setting but you should get the defaults back.

I rebooted since downloading the Konq plugins, but nothing new happened.

I did not do what Bald Brick suggested........because I didn't know what to do.  :(

Open Dolphin in your /home/meme directory, click View --> Show Hidden Files. Navigate to .kde4/share/config. There. you should find a file named konquerorrc. Rename that file to konquerorrc-old, then log out and back in. The file will be automatically replaced with one containing all the default settings.

I changed the file name and logged out. After bringing Konq up, the only thing that was different was: to the Right of the long white space is a small area of gray.  If I click that, the same box of places that I see in my other screen shot comes into the middle of the screen.  I see no search and I cannot type into the address box.  If I do it just brings the box into the bottom/middle of the screen.

have you tested with another user on that machine to see if the problem happens there too?

I am in another user now.  Somehow my computer is really really slow now so I am not moving very fast.  :(
I brought up Konq and finally got a pic.  Shows a difference....but things are so slow I couldn't try much.

About a week ago I posted that my Konqueror browser was not working correctly. Several others also posted and noted some problems and I believe they got their Konq back to working order.  I did not.

I left this topic for a week hoping mine would shape up on its own, but somehow it didn't come to pass. I am hoping there is just one or two more steps for me to follow that will allow me to enjoy the Konq browser.

Hereunder is a summary of the things I did as I understood from the directions given.

1. I installed the Konq-plugins and did a reboot.
2. I changed the name of konquerorrc to konquerorrc-old.

Although there were other directions given, they were for the other posters.  The above 2 were the only ones specific to me.  There really has been no change since my original post.  Perhaps I missed a direction along the way.  :P

I don't recall if you did this ........  create a new temporary user and open Konq in that user.
If that version is OK then your problem is with your user account settings ......  somewhere ...

Yes, I did that.  See a couple posts above.  I am in the 'other user' now and post pic again.

It seems that everything is fine in the 'other user'.  I am trying to look at the settings to see if I have something different somewhere..somehow.  But I really can't tell.  Will stay here a bit and maybe you can mention a setting I ought to really check.

Is the slowness you reported above (yes I went and looked  ;D ) still a problem with the new user account?
