I want mine to look like old-polack's.   :D

Install the package konq-plugins from Synaptic.

Ah! I had the plugins installed, so that's probably why I hadn't lost the search bar. But I still cant activate or deactivate it from "Settings"-->"Toolbars Shown". I have to edit konquerorrc. (And I still prefer to use the web shortcuts.)

Yes, I can configure it (even if the configuration options aren't very many). But I just can't specify whether it should be visible or not without editing the rc file -- at least not from the "Toolbars Shown" menu.

Install the package konq-plugins from Synaptic.

[root@fatman ~]# rpm -ql konq-plugins |grep search
/usr/lib/kde4/searchbarplugin.so
/usr/share/apps/konqueror/kpartplugins/searchbar.desktop
/usr/share/apps/konqueror/kpartplugins/searchbar.rc
/usr/share/apps/konqueror/opensearch
/usr/share/apps/konqueror/opensearch/google.xml

And a whole bunch of locale stuff follows. A whole bunch!

I went to Synaptic and search for konq-plugins and nothing showed.

I see this, when the search is for konqueror.

konqueror is not important anymore, for web browsing and for file browsing

dolphin or pcman file manager are better solutions under kde4

for web browsing if firefox gives problems opera 11 is a better solution

about konqueror bar, i can't help you, last time i used it it was working fine

For you that may be true.

Definitely not for me.

I prefer Konqueror.

+1.

Although I use Opera quite a lot (and as my default email client).

Remove the entry under the Search Toolbar and it will disappear .......  return it an it will be visible.

repo doesn't want it anymore  ;D

Texstar changed some dependencies related to dolphin and konqueror to let them exist separately

now, where did he put konqueror?  :D

OK, I just did the reload bit    :-[ :-[ :-[ and saw the Konq-plugins there.  So after it finishes I will see if it installs.

i was searching in my home folder and in /home/thenameofyouruser/.kde4/share/config/  there is a file called konquerorrc

it seems to be the config file for konqueror, if i understand you want to start from clean with it, this could help

He moved Konqueror into the Dolphin package. But searching for konq-plugins still gives me this:

I installed the Konq-plugins. I opened Konq.  Two things happened.  Over to the Right an arrow appeared. When I clicked on it, it only made the white space get larger.
I still cannot type into the white space......but when I tried to type a small window opened down the page.
