[SOLVED] new to e17 - can't find other themes??
« on: December 30, 2010, 12:15:25 PM »
Hi all - just trying e17 and having downloaded/updated in the last few days I presume I have the latest version.

All seems to work OK except I really don't like the blackwood theme at all - sorry.  I have looked in synaptic for "Agust" but only the blackwood theme seems to be available (search for theme/s doesn't find anything else either).

Do I have to enable another repo or something?

Also - I managed to delete the default shelf with the PC Menu etc on it.  How can I recover it?  I made another shelf, but most default stuff is missing. Do I need to delete .e and reboot?

Cheers

RJ

Mebbe search using just theme - that should bring up quite a few - or try just entering e17 as the search term

PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.4; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.4.38bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

Press reload to get a current file listing then agust themes will show up.

Re-install econfig to reset your desktop to default settings if using the Enlightenment Full version.

Thank you all - I'll give it a go tomorrow - I am on the wrong PC at the moment.  Must be a new upload then - I did update/upgrade just a few days ago.

Anyway - it's worth it.  A year or two back I tried earlier versions of e16/17 elsewhere and boy were they rough.  This is quite polished by comparison.

Happy days ;D

Hello arjay; you mentioned the blackwood theme which is not an E17 theme but a windows theme. If you are using pheonix then you can search for gtk themes in synaptic and there will be plenty. :) Hope this may help.

Thanks for the info - but it was the e17 desktop I wanted to try out.  I must say, I get completely muddled by all the offerings: mini-this and maxi-that, open-boxes but no shut-boxes apparently, XDFFEQZ and all the rest  ;D - perhaps a case of more is less; unless you are a wizard (or witch)  :-\

It can tend to be confusing. Left click the E17 desktop and choose settings and from that choose themes. There should be 8 or 9 E17 themes for you to choose from. If they are not there then make sure you have updated in synaptic and then search Agust themes or E17 themes to make sure they are installed. Please let us know which E17 version you are running so it will make it easier to give you better help.

As an example I am using the xfce-pheonix version and then I installed E17 from there. Sorry for any confusion. Ken

Search synaptic for 'Agust' and you'll find 2 packages with e17 themes.
@Texstar: last 4 or 5 themes Agust made aren't yet included in the packages, care for an update if you find some time?

Thanks to all those who offered help - what a great forum this is.  :)  I got the new themes via Synaptic after a Reload. Unfortunately, I also took the opportunity to update and that produced some problems in the desktop.  I'll post separately for that and mark this up as solved.
