Where to submit non-working hardware?
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:18:57 AM »
I want to submit 'iBall pen tablet 5540U' as presently non-working in PCLinuxOS 2010,where to submit it?
I am going to gift it away and purchase 'Wacom Bamboo CTH 460 (pen & touch-pad) & hope it will work.
...Not going to leave PCLinuxOS and go back to viruses & slow-downs just for a tablet.

there was a hardware database but i ignore if still exist

the hardware you mention, i see you have a post about this specific piece of hardware with no replies yet, what steps did you tried to make it work, possibly needs a specific driver or module to load and make it work?

several models will work as a mouse but requiring to remove original mouse of your system could be required, this is common in some laptops i used recently, including the touchpad

You might want to do a search in the forum for "Wacom" before you buy one.

Some models have never and most likely will never work under linux.

There have been several threads on the topic.

One of our members has spent considerably time and energy getting one of the current models to work.

I only remember that it was not something for the faint at heart to try.

I have two or three of the older models that do not work under linux. The only way I can use them is under VirtualBox which works just fine if I only want to interface them with windows based drawing programs.
