[SOLVED] Need help setting up PCLOS on a 32" monitor
« on: December 28, 2010, 11:40:19 PM »
Hi All,
I was in need of a larger monitor (my eyesight is not great) and couldn't pass up a boxing day deal on a 32" monitor.  Well actually it is an LCD TV with 1080 resolution.
I have attached my computer to the monitor using a dvi to hdmi cable.
The issue that I am having is that the desktop appears to slightly exceed the screen size.
Is there a way to correct this or am I SOL?
I welcome and appreciate any help that you may provide.

Can you shrink the area through a monitor's hardware control?

Thanks a million UncleV, that did the trick!
For anyone else who's considering using this TV, LG 32LD400, you have to change the picture mode from 16x9 to SCAN.
Now if I could only get the sound to work through the HDMI cable and my NVidia card...

I ended up returning this monitor.
It had a very loud hum and after speaking with someone else who had to replace the mainboard of his LG TV at his expense I thought it best to not take the chance.
I went back to my trusty 19" monitor.
By the way I also found out that my graphics card does not support audio output.
