Changin default printer driver
« on: December 23, 2010, 09:57:49 PM »
I am currently using PCLinuxOS (LXDE version) and it seems to work quite well. After installing the printer, my HP Laserjet 1200 takes a lot longer to complete a print job than my prievious OS did. I previously had it set up for the Gutenprint driver. There doesn't seem to be a way to choose my driver of choice at the point of installation through the "Configure the Computer" app. Can anyone suggest how I might go about selecting the Gutenberg driver?

Hi,

You can try to reconfigure it (uninstall/reinstall) with hp-toolbox. It's the utility that comes with hplip-gui-3.10.9-2pclos2010. Actually for my HP printer, (a much cheaper one than your's), it's the only method that gives the correct result. (Not PCC, not CUPS web gui... )

PS: Your printer:

3 pinguins ! Works perfectly ! :)

PS 2 : you need to use Hplip driver, not Gutenprint.
