E17 Follies (theme, file manager, desktop, etc.) SOLVED!
« on: December 22, 2010, 09:13:36 PM »
I installed pclinuxos-enlightenment.2010.12 and have been playing with it.  One of the first things I did was change the theme since the default, though very nice, is too dark and monochrome for me to use comfortably.

So I installed A-special-one whatever, the previous theme.  Quick and easy, but I was very disappointed to see that file managers, Dolphin or Konqueror, are still dark themed with light type on a dark background.  So too is Konsole.

I searched the forum for solutions but was disappointed.  There doesn't seem to be a real fix for this.  One poster mentioned that Nautilus allows the background to be changed, so I installed Nautilus to try it.  I had to launch it from the command line.

This was really interesting.  I could not change the Nautilus background but I got (as a bonus?) x-nautilus-desktop!  Another desktop (with a fully working Trash, i.e., one I can drag & drop files to).  I wasn't expecting this.

In any event, I still have not found a way to get better than the default view monochrome file manager.

E17 is supposed to be endlessly configurable.  How do I get a better color scheme for Konqueror?

If you are using the E-17 Full Version in the More-Applications -> Configuration Menu there is an entry called KDE appearance where you can change all of the colors of KDE applications to your liking.

Thank you, Texstar!  That worked just fine, to my great relief.
