samba configuration questions
« on: December 22, 2010, 11:50:15 AM »
Hi,

I've been playing with samba for over an hour now and can't seem to get it to work just like I want to.

I can get it to work in basic mode, meaning once I login everyone sees everything.

Say I have 4 users.
I want user 1 to have admin access. User 2 to have write access, user 3 to have read access and user 4 to have no access.

In the samba configuration do I set "usr" or "share".

Then once I select a share name, do I make public (not quite sure what that is), browseable, writeable? Or is that only specified in the Advanced Options under Samba User access. I see that I seperate users with a space but I just can't get it to work. Also, what is a "valid user".

Thanks!
