« on: December 19, 2010, 07:16:05 AM »
Have just installed Pclinuxos to a usb stick. Any ideas how
I can make a persist file so it will save any alterations I might need to make ?

If you use the PCLOS utility to create the Live install to the USB stick, it will have persistence as a boot option by default.

If it is not in your install  then get it through Synaptic

Pclinuxos-liveusb

If you use the tool PCLinuxOS-liveusb, which is in the repos, to create the LiveUSB stick, it will automagically create 2 boot entries, one normal and one persistent.

EDIT: Argh, 21 seconds behind Just19.  ;D ;D ;D

trufflesdad,
If you have a second usb stick that you can use, and if you have a second usb socket on your computer, you can use PCLinuxOS LiveUSB Creator from the live stick you are using to create the second stick with persistence. That is, you can create the live system with persistence on a second stick from the original live system while running it.

Maybe I am misunderstanding .....  but that sounds like a full OS install to a USB device and as such will retain all changes made.

As Neal posted you can create a Live Install from that install or from a LiveCD of PCLOS, by using the utility mentioned.

That full OS install will work best if you only use it on the computer it was installed from. If you would like to use it with multiple computers, you should use the tool that Just19, Neal, and I suggested.
