never heard of it

sometimes vlc can covert this files with uncommon extensions

audacity is a file editor but if it can open the file it will be able to save it to another format

But it seems that goldwave is for windows only though.

Sparky,
Does MediaInfo see an audio stream in the file?
What does it say it is?

I would try converting the file with PACPL ......  it may just work ....

Have you tried any of the file converters on it yet?

PACPL should give a right click menu entry .......  or it does in KDE .....  no idea about E17 sorry.

Is it possible to create an audio CD using K3b with this file?
If so then maybe K3b will convert it.
You might be able to save the K3b output into an inage and peruse the image without burning a CD.

There are apps out there for windows and mac that can be used to convert an audiobook to mp3 but all are between 30 and 40 bucks. I prefer work with linux and thought that there might be an open source app that can perform the same task.

Have you tried WinFF?  It's in the repos and converts to and from LOTS of different audio and video formats.

I did but I can seem to run PAPCL. I installed it and can find it. What command option can I use to lunch it. I love linux but I am very limited in the command line :(

try vlc first, install it from synaptic

in media menu/convert save

select the file and try more, you are talking us like you wanted us to give a step by step but you are not really answering questions

very hard to help more than already done

I am sorry T6, I am trying all the recommendations but no luck so far. Just tried WinFF and had no success. I am not really asking for step by step but rather trying to get an idea from the resources that we have available in this forum. I will keep trying and let you guys know. I really appreciate this guys.
