hello and welcome to the forum

what version of pclinux are you using?

totem is not the most popular app to watch dvds

vlc, smplayer, kaffeine between others are more appropriated

You can install any, or all, of the various players through Synaptic. First be sure your installation is fully upgraded. Also install the packages win32-codecs-all, libdvdcss2, libdvdnav4, libdvdread3, and libdvdread4. The win32-codecs-all package is for viewing video files, while the libdvd* packages are for playing movie DVDs.

I use the smplayer T6 mentioned in gnome, it works really well, be sure to also install the packages O-P mentioned. I think I tried Totem at one point too and had some issues, switched to smplayer and now all is well.

...Totem at one point too and had some issues,...
That statement is true, it did have issues for a short while but now with a fully updated Gnome 2010, including the packages O-P mentioned, Totem plays without problem!
