Need to setup existing (only) user in FullMonty
« on: December 11, 2010, 07:37:52 AM »
I have just installed FullMonty  Release 2010.11 onto my existing PCCLOS 2010.11 KDE system.  I reformatted the / partition, but kept the separate /home partition unformatted.  I would like to have FullMonty work as it did on the liveDVD when it was booted up.  Please give me info on how to do this.

I did create a new user and have it working, but can't get access to my original /home directory as a regular user.

Thanks for any help

Hi lgharriman

Can you explain a little bit more please.  When you say you have installed FullMonty into your existing 2010.11 KDE setup what do you actually mean by that?

Do you mean you installed FullMonty on "top" of 2010.11 / partition or into separate partitons?

Thats as it should be - that user shouldn't have the permission to access your original home partition unless given permission rights by root privileges

I reformatted the / partition and installed the FullMonty version in place of the KDE version.
It was a clean install.  I kept the /home partition as it was so I wouldn't lose my important data.

I have 4 partitions

/   root - bootable      first hard drive

/swap  - 4 gig swap   first hard drive

/home  - main data   first hard drive

/tmp   temp work      second hard drive
