It was working here earlier today but now I have the same problem as you have reported ......  no audio in the recorded file.

Also I notice that my CPU is being maxed out during the recording and I do not see the station displayed as it should while recording.

.....  unless it has something to do with the updates I got today .....

I just tried the Ogg recording option and have had success ......  recording from France 24 English. I get audio in the recording and also see what is being recorded.

It would appear to me that here at least the recording is overwhelming my PC when using mpg4

I even tried it on a LQ B&W station ....  Sherlock Holmes ......  and no display of station while recording and no sound on mp4/ts.

Something seems to have changed in the last hours ....

Have mine listed for Americanfreetv and get shows but no name for station or schedule of programs.
Watched 2 Sherlock Holmes movies and part of a Gregory Peck English lawyer movie.
They have LQ, MQ and HQ after the listings ( HQ seem to play the best on my computer ).

FreetuxTV gives me lots of channels that work, both radio and TV, but none of the AmericaFree channels do. I get neither video nor sound -- although the program tells me they are playing. Is this because of my VLC settings or because of my geographical location or something else? (I haven't played with this player for very long, so I haven't had time to do any experimenting.)

Edit: Ten minutes after writing the above I noticed that some of the AmericaFree channels had started working, but with lots of dropouts.

For me VLC is now very difficult to administer changes to its settings ......  there are just so many that I do not understand (what the implications of changing the default setting is) and yet using the default settings there appears to be some types of input that it is failing with ..... maybe it is time for me to move to something less advanced  :(

I don' use vlc, the FreeTuxtv player plays on my screen.
When show or movie is playing I double click screen and it goes full screen.

Yes, but the FreetuxTV in the repo is compiled with LibVLC version 1.1.4, and it uses the VLC configuration settings.

What do you have on your box that I haven't?

I still can't get the AmericaFree channels to play (except very occasionally with very bad sound and video quality).

When starting TreetuxTV in a terminal and clicking one of them I got something like this (after the startup info):
Quote
[GtkLibVLC]    INFO       : Playing rtsp://video2.americafree.tv/AFTVMysteryH264500.sdp
[GtkLibVLC]    INFO       : Using vlc options [:deinterlace=0 :access=timeshift :input-timeshift-granularity=50]
Unable to determine our source address: This computer has an invalid IP address: 0x0

The last line seemed ominous particularly as it was repeated a number of times.

On the other hand, I get the same complaint when clicking several other channels (e.g. BBC News) -- after which the channels start playing.

Then I looked at the URL and noticed the protocol: rtsp. "Aha", I thought, and installed the RTSP server library (and the Python bindings for good measure). It didn't help. But I thought I remembered that RealPlayer could handle RTSP, so I also installed Real Player and the Mozilla plugin. That didn't help either.

So what do you have that I haven't?

I use my laptop, downloaded from synaptic, and click on it in the AL menu
and get this.
