Thunar exaggerating file sizes?

My wife asked for some CD's of some 1980's country hits for Christmas.  Since we don't have a whole lot of money but I have quite a few blank CDs on hand, I decided I'd go to YouTube and, with a little help from Wikipedia, get the scoop on the top country hits of each year of the 1980's, and download those on YouTube that are of studio-recording quality and in stereo and convert them to WAVs to burn to CDs.

I'm burning them right now while she's still asleep (I've also employed a second virtual desktop, which I almost never use, to put GnomeBaker on to burn the CDs in case she wakes up and comes in here LOL), but I noticed something when I went to add the files to be burned in GnomeBaker:  While downloading, converting, compiling, and deciding what order to put the songs in, I paid close attention to not go over 700 MB when downloading and converting everything.  It's my understanding that 700 MB = about 80 minutes worth of music in WAV format, right?  Well, according to GnomeBaker, there are only about 65-70 minutes worth of music on each CD I've burned so far. 

It's not THAT big a deal, but I feel a little gypped here in that I could've put about 3 or 4 more songs on each CD (one for each year of the 80's).  It's kinda like Thunar lied to me, and I don't like being lied to like that.  Anyone know what's up with that?

Yeah, I know there's Xfburn, but I tried it once and it wouldn't let me select burning speeds less than 8x or 16x (don't remember which), whereas GnomeBaker lets me select my preferred 4x (I'm a real stickler for quality when I burn a CD).

That's really interesting about point #3 that you made.  I guess if I do anything else like this in the future, I'll cut things off at 800MB according to Thunar (wish I would've known about this before LOL).  Strange, though...but hey, I tested them in my minivan's CD player on my way to work this morning, and they play just fine.
