Zen Mini logout inop
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:57:11 PM »
HP Pavillion a210n logout will not work, also when rebooting, the screen is blank until the HP screen during post.
Celeron 2.5G, 1 1/4 G ram, Intel 82845 video. When I had 2010 E17 installed, logout worked properly. Installation from current zen iso, fully updated, E17 installed. Logout didn't work with only original install, after updating or after adding E17. I have performed the same install on two other pc's without this problem.

the other 2 pc are fully updated as well ? what login manager are you using GDM or from e17 ? try to reinstall gdm from synaptic and try than...

what do you mean by "also when rebooting, the screen is blank " ? maybe it's plymouth problem ? try to reinstall it by synaptic as well "plymouth" and "zen-theme"

I tried kdm and and slim, with no change. Reinstalled gdm, no change.

The reboot issue is something I think is the same underlying cause.
When rebooting or powering down, no splash and no text, display is blank. Nothing on monitor until the HP post screen.

Hi,

Just before powering down rebooting or any sleep try to do as root:
Code: [Select]
# service haldaemon restart
and let us know if that helps.

Restart hal, no change.

Hi,
Next, try to add "acpi=force" on the kernel boot command line (in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file). It can help in some cases.

PS: what version kernel do you have on this install ?

No change. Kernel 2.6.33.7pclos6.bfs
I'll probably reinstall from a live e17 cd made in June, or try the current lxde iso and add e17. I want to avoid the kde apps in the new e17 iso and had good luck with the prior install.

Installed the current lxde iso, added E17 and a few apps, no problems now.
