The Sky link works great! Shall keep on the lookout for more online radio links.

I really enjoy listening to online radio but from what i have read in a computer magazine i think it's going to get even harder unless you use the browser. Here's a link to read about it if you are interested http://www.ukradioplayer.info

Big thanks Neo

My pleasure.

Can RadioTray play this stream?

http://www.clare.fm/node/7

I get an error that gstreamer is missing a plugin  :(

Same for a number of others I would listen to.

I cannot play it with VLC either  :(

Could you possibly check this one ....  I am trying to narrow down what may be missing from this install ......

If you get a chance you might post the media details for the first one ......  codecs etc ......  should be available from either or both VLC and SMPlayer.

It might give me an idea where to look for the problem.

I found nothing in the repository which refers to wma2 .....  so it seems I might be out of luck trying to find the cause ...

Well I seem to have found an alternate stream type or somethinng for
http://www.clare.fm/node/7

which is

mms://venus.sharp-stream.com/clarefm?MSWMExt=.asf

and this plays WMA2 ok, so it is not the codec that I am missing.

Maybe it is the same stream ....  at this stage I am so confused I am unsure of anything.

Thanks for the help.  ;)

I save the links to the harddrive and then rename to what I want.... 50s 60s 70s.pls

Then double-click on them and Clementine plays them.

Thanks for that tip Sammy2fish, I didn't know to try that with the .pls files it keeps wanting to download, will give that a try ;)

This aggression will not stand man.

Thanks ....  yes I have got that and the WMA alternatives to all the smil streams I wanted.

Took a little searching but I am good now.

***

Is there a limit on the number of stations that radiotray will hold?

Just wondering .....  I have a bunch to save there.

I have also been testing recording some interesting topics from it and have used gnome-recorder (from gnome-media) to record the stream --- using Pulse set up to contol how the stream is directed etc.

Thanks again for the tip about radiotray ....  nice and simple setup ...  and the recording is now working so I am happy with that.

regards.

I don't know - but at present I have 20 stations and they all do fine.  Should you reach a limit let us know.

Oh, btw, you can regulate the volume as well by moving the mouse over the radiotray icon and use the wheel, like you can do with the master icon.

I got it going by using the following link:

http://tx.sharp-stream.com/tune.php?c=clarefm&.wvx

Can you confirm that, scoundrel?

This is the URL I have in Radio Tray for ClareFM

mms://venus.sharp-stream.com/clarefm?MSWMExt=.asf

which is now working perfectly.

No .smil streams will work unfortunately ......  missing gstreamer plugin error continues ....

I tried

http://www.clare.fm/streaming.asx

which locked up RadioTray, but it plays in VLC after resolving to

mms://mercury.sharp-stream.com/clarefm?MSWMExt=.asf

Whereas

http://tx.sharp-stream.com/tune.php?c=clarefm&.wvx

mms://venus.sharp-stream.com/clarefm?MSWMExt=.asf

both work in Radio Tray

as does the resolved URL

mms://mercury.sharp-stream.com/clarefm?MSWMExt=.asf

All very strange indeed .......

I have read in some oldish documentation (2003) that .smil and gstreamer are not jelling well.  That might have changed by now - still thought throw it into the pot ...

edit.  Found the link:  http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-multimedia/2003-January/msg00096.html
