SOLVED-2010 Live CD Won't Boot
« on: December 04, 2010, 10:44:58 AM »
I have tried several times over the last few weeks to create a LiveCD from my current installation of PCLinuxOS.  I am using the remasterme script that I have been using since I started with PCLOS a few years ago.  It includes this command for mylivecd:  mylivecd --splash silent --md5sum --fstab=rw,noauto --ufs aufs --nodir=^/home/mwl/ pclinuxos-2010.iso.

The creation of the iso does not produce any errors and creates a file of approximately 1.7Gb.  I use K3b to burn to a DVD at the slowest speed available (about 3x).  No errors are produced during the burn.

I ran a MediaCheck on the most recent attempt and the check itself passes.  However, after hitting OK to close, a message pops up:  "Kernel panic - not syncing: no init found  try passing init=option to kernel".  I have run MediaCheck on a couple of past attempts, but do not recall that message coming up.

If I attempt to run the LiveCD, it gets as far as the PCLOS splash screen and my machine freezes.

I did a search but could not find anything that matched my problem.  I did find a close match that mentioned upgrading mylivecd.  I did that with no affect.

I read the posting outlining the steps to a create a LiveCD and followed all the steps from the bleachbit commands, the umount, but using the remasterme script in place of the mylivecd command noted.  I double-checked to make sure draklive-install was present, and upgraded that, just in case.  None of this had any affect.

Can someone give me an idea of what is going wrong?  I have used the remasterme script for several years with no problems until now.

Thanks.

I think one thing I would possibly try nomen is to run the ISO in Virtualbox and see if that works.
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver
