A few times I have tried to install VLC, starting from Windows and now the 3rd time in Linux. I was expecting that something would jump into life if I just added an item in the play list from the internet, like
rtp://1234.
Found info in wiki on the net, but I don't really understand how to approach trouble shooting.
If trying to start VLC from konsole:
[gert@localhost ~]$ vlc
VLC media player 1.1.5 The Luggage (revision exported)
Blocked: call to unsetenv("DBUS_ACTIVATION_ADDRESS")
Blocked: call to unsetenv("DBUS_ACTIVATION_BUS_TYPE")
[0x814149c] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
Blocked: call to setlocale(6, "")
Blocked: call to sigaction(17, 0xb27ff114, 0xb27ff088)
Blocked: call to setlocale(6, "")
[0x816abc4] qt4 interface error: Unable to load extensions module
Any hint what this is trying to tell me?
Edit: I made another attempt to get some life in VLC because I have been looking at why the sound level in SMplayer was too low. Finally found the It was not enough to have the kmixer master control at 100% also needed the
Front control at 100%.
Not sure this information is of any help, apart from showing sound works in another application
