LXDE HP printer install problem
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:44:39 PM »
I am using the latest LXDE 2010. I have a HP 3100 series printer using a Netgear PS121 print server connected to a router.

The printer did work using PcLinuxos 2009.

Now Printerdrake will not even run in PCC. It locks up.

Using local631 I can install the printer, and print a test page. But trying to print in Firefox, Firefox locks up.

Using Leafpad, does not show a printer installed.

Has anyone installed a printer using the Netgear PS121 print server in 2010? If so, what were your steps?

I tried Phoenix-XFCE livecd today. Printerdrake and locathost:631 both work. I can setup my printer using lpd, and prints correctly.

So now my question is, what is different between LXDE and XFCE?

What has to be installed for printerdrake to work correctly? I did uninstall and reinstall in LXDE the two obvious files. Didn't help. Locks up when I try to use in PCC and in a terminal.

Would PCC need to be reinstalled? If so, what files in Synaptic do I need to look for?

Same question for CUPS?
