Edited home+root/corrected locations and all is ok :D

Just a me too. What did you edit exactly? I couldn't see anything wrong under Settings/Configure Dolphin. -i.e. /home path is correct.
hp a6319fh desktop, hard wired +50Mb/s docsis 3.0
arch, 2.6.38.5-1-lqx, xorg 1.10.1, kde 4.6.3/xfce 4.8.1/fvwm 2.7.0

I very much like E17, but there are a lot of things that have me scratching my head.  (As in   ??? )

I'm hoping that if I stick with it I'll eventually have an epiphany and find enlightenment.    ;D   ::)    :-[
