cannon ip1980 (solved)
« on: December 03, 2010, 08:22:55 PM »
On my un updated laptop I have the ip1980 installed and working.  The driver found in setup is ip1900 and works.  ;)

On my updated desktop kde4> I look for ip1900 during setup and only get as close as ip2000 and it does not work.  :'(

Driver ip1900 has be removed from the set up task,  how do I get it installed the cd has no pdl or what ever for linux.  ???

Right now I have to reboot windows or have laptop running connected to network with usb cable for printer into laptop just to print.  I would prefer to print from laptop via the desktop when nec. and not re arrange all the cables daily.  As you may have guessed re booting into windows to print is the easy option right now   :-X,

lord I need the driver back in setup like it was before.   :-\

Get your driver from Canon's site, pick the rpm version. There will be 2 packages to be installed. One is "common" and the other one the actual driver. Works like a charm here.

You should install via konsole (command line). Let us know if that gives difficulties.
