Update notifier
« on: December 02, 2010, 01:26:11 AM »
Is this WM or DE specific?

If I have enabled it in Phoenix will it only update Phoenix/Xfce packages?

Thanks

It normally will only update ALL installed packages (just the same as you would do Reload >> Mark All Upgrades >> Apply >> Apply in Synaptic  ;))

Thanks - I couldn't understand why it was such a big download, but it's because I installed a couple of KDE apps and I guess it's doing the lot.

It upgrades whatever it is you have installed. In this case, KDE was just upgraded to version 4.5.4, so everything KDE related on your installation had to be upgraded to that version.

In this case it's Phoenix mini, although I've installed some KDE apps, which i guess has increased the upgrade considerably.

Yes, you then have installed the kde base packages, etc etc, which are together a really big amount of data...  :)

I've updated my desktop KDE, so think I'll do a fresh install of Phoenix mini and try only the native apps, and reduce the download time.

Thanks for the information.

Yes, try to find GTK-alternatives....
If you don't find one, ask it here. Success!
