Thanks T6, I try but it's not always easy to find the "silver lining in the cloud".

Thanks OP that's a great idea, I actually played with that very late last night with some success.
The problem I have now is the sudden disappearance of the "USB" directory/folder.
I have selected "view hidden files" in both Dolphin and Konqueror but it simply does not exist under the "Dev" directory/folder.

Honest, I couldn't make this stuff up.

Perhaps because it isn't needed, and your lp devices are now in /dev proper.

[root@littleboy ~]# ls -l /dev |grep lp
crw-rw----  1 root   lp          6,   0 Nov 29 16:29 lp0
crw-rw----  1 root   lp          6,   1 Nov 29 16:29 lp1
crw-rw----  1 root   lp          6,   2 Nov 29 16:29 lp2
crw-rw----  1 root   lp          6,   3 Nov 29 16:29 lp3
crw-rw----  1 root   lp         99,   0 Nov 29 22:30 parport0

Well the "USB" directory/folder is now back.
I have no idea why it went away to begin with or where it went, I just hope it took some nice photos of its journey...

I've since gone back into the PCLOS Control Panel and changed my printer connection back to "/dev/usb/lp0".

I am now getting a new error before I even try to print something:

"usr/lip/cups/filter/rastertosamsungspl failed".

By the way here is my output when I use the "ls -l /dev |grep lp" command you posted:

Quote
[root@localhost neo]# ls -l /dev |grep lp
crw-rw----  1 root lp        6,   0 Dec  4 03:42 lp0
crw-rw----  1 root lp        6,   1 Dec  4 03:42 lp1
crw-rw----  1 root lp        6,   2 Dec  4 03:42 lp2
crw-rw----  1 root lp        6,   3 Dec  4 03:42 lp3
crw-rw-rw-  1 root lp       99,   0 Dec  4 09:42 parport0
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root           7 Dec  4 09:42 usblp0 -> usb/lp0
[root@localhost neo]#

Does anyone know how the heck I can get my printer working again???

It seems that for every step forward I make, I take two back.

By the way in the PCLOS Control Panel "/dev/lp0" is defined as a parallel printer and "/dev/usb/lp0" is defined as a USB printer.

Neo, after update today my HP Deskjet F4400 series printer stoped working..Ii has never failed
in PCLOS before....The printer is attached to my PCLOS computer....I can still print from a
networked xp computer...Scanner still works....
The best way to save face is keep the bottom half shut.

Thanks for the post Desperado, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in this (but not glad that anyone including me have suddenly lost their ability to print).
