Can't figure out how to play music in media player, Kscd not working

Umm - I must be a bit silly but can't figure out how play a music CD using the media player installed by default, so installed Kscd which is what I use on my KDE system.  However it doesn't seem to be working - I don't see the bar moving indicating prgress, and it doesn't pop up the info of the artists playing.

I also wonder if I have sound, because apart from a beep now and then I get nothing.  Not sure if Phoenix has a musical theme like KDE when it loads?

You have to click on the sound icon in the task bar and than when it comes up push the select channel button (close to that name I am not at XFCE right now) in the lower left and select Master and PCM then unmute them and turn them up and you should have sound

Did you configure your sound card in PCC?

Thanks yes both those things done.  Will try some of the apps recommended for Xfce
