[solved] Blurred Display on LCD Screen
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:19:46 AM »
I'm experiencing blurry areas on my LCD monitor. The LCD monitor has a DVI and VGA port. The VGA port of the monitor is currently connected to the builtin VGA port of the botherboard. The integrated graphics chip is an nVidia 6100 series. When on VESA driver, the screen is clear and text is sharp. But when installing nVidia's binary driver from repository, it's blurred.

I tried already fixing it through PCC and nVidia control setting but the screen is still blurred. Even the auto adjust feature of the LCD can't seem to fix it. Help me please!!!

I'm soooo tempted to say, "So just use the VESA driver!"  But I know that's not very helpful nor polite.

Unfortunately, I do not currently have an nVidia card connected to an LCD monitor, so I can't help - only kibitz...

Sorry... couldn't resist.

What is the brand name of the monitor ?
Look on the monitor for any specs ( resolution, refresh rate,size.........ect ) and post back.

The more information you supply, the easier the solution .

Make sure you select the exact resolution of your monitor and not some resolution that you think might suit you.

Digital displays do not display very well except at their native resolution ......

It's a Chimei 95QD and has the following specs:

Native Resolution: 1366X768
Display Color: 16.7M
Brightness (cd/m²): 250 cd/m2
Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 10000:1
Viewing Angle:
    Horizontal 170°
    Vertical 160°
Scan Rate
    Horizontal: 30 kHz ~ 82 kHz
    Vertical: 56 Hz ~ 76 Hz
Video Bandwidth: 135MHZ
Diaplay Area: 409.8mm × 230.4 mm
Response Time (ms): 5 ms

I already tried setting it to the correct native display and using 60Hz refresh rate but still not working.

I'm experiencing blurry areas on my LCD monitor.

Just re-read this.

What does this mean?

Some parts of the display are blurry while others are not?

Please explain, thanks.

It looks like you need to try a couple of the nvidia drivers to see which one suits the on board video.

@Just19

You got it right. Actually tried all the drivers already and all of them exhibit the same thing.

The correct refresh rate for an LCD monitor is called "flat screen". Make sure you have the width set to 1366 and not 1360.

In PCC. First for the monitor, and then for the card.

@kjpetrie

After doing everything suggested in this post, I decided to reinstall everything from scratch and noted the sequence of setting the correct setting for the monitor through PCC and then through nVidia-settings. And...boom!!!! Everything looks sharp and  clear. Thank you very much for everybody's input.

Mabuhay!!!
