Is there a problem with Synaptic and/or the repositories ?

Synaptic shows no updates (the last updates I did were two weeks ago) -
is this possible, or something from the repositories not loading correctly?
I'm suspicious, because when I try "update package sources list",
it also fails.
Thanks for any info.

I was seeing that too. It is a good sign as big things always follow when this happens.
